Do You Pay Your Rent with Credit Cards?

Credit cards have become an integral part of our everyday life. We got used to those little plastic things that swarm in our wallets so much, that we just cannot imagine paying for goods and services without credit cards. Life has split into before and during the era of plastic money. The reason for all that is unquestionable convenience of using credit cards.

You use credit cards to pay for groceries, clothes, cars, houses, entertainments, studies, travelling, gas... You can even pay taxes with plastics. Each day credit card industry offers you more and more new options. Now you can even pay your rent with credit cards.

But does this option really give you benefits, or threatens you with debts?

Large apartment management companies already accept rent charges through electronic payment systems. The top 5 US apartment rent providers accept credit cards as a means of payment for rent. Denver's AMICO, the biggest apartment community manager, for instance, has been working with electronic payment processors for over 2 years. If you deal with Riverstone, you can also pay your rent with Discover, MasterCard, or Visa credit card offers.

Now that all types of retailers fight for every client, rental companies also try to outrival each other to attract more customers. Thus, some of them offer an option of making fee-free rental credit card payments. Some lower fees to 2% or even 1% for processing rent, like MasterCard, for example. If you are a MasterCard credit card owner, you can pay your rent with a plastic and you will be charged just 1%.

Moreover, you can actually earn through paying for rent with a credit card. Use your cash back card deal or airmiles, or gasoline card deal or that purpose. This way you will get a chance to accumulate extra rewards points or get some other perks. Besides, it is not just convenience that people look for in a credit card, but also comfort.

Just think, if you have a plastic and monthly credit card bills to pay anyway, why should you make some additional and unnecessary, in fact, actions to make another payment? Instead of writing out a check for rent, paying credit card bills, paying in cash for some purchases or services, making some other payments you can minimize your efforts to one single action of making a monthly credit card payment. And get more rewards points for that. Convenience, comfort, and benefit.

The only thing you are to take into consideration when choosing this strategy of managing your finances, is your credit card limit. It must be large enough to be able to afford such considerable charges. Once you go over your limit, you get accrued a penalty fee that can hurt your credit score and cause serious financial problems.

This, probably, is the only pitfall you can come across when paying for rent with a credit card. It is just about wise credit card use. If you are careful about your due dates, if you do not exceed your credit limit and follow other simple rules of responsible credit card use, you will surely optimize your financial management.

Yeah, i agree, this is much more convenient when you get all your monthly bills in one day, and you don't have to remember that you nedd to pay for utilities on the 12th, pay for rent on the 5th, pay off your car loan on the 20th, and so on. hope one day i will get all me bills to pay in one and the same statement.
