How to build good credit and get great credit card offers in easy to follow steps
Financial matters in today's world are not like they were in the past when you were a child. When you were in school you probably remember your teachers having 'conferences' with you to go over your report card or other school matters.
Your teachers would go over your 'file' and you had to just wait...and wait...until they finished up and they told you whether you were on track or not. It has not changed very much since those days for you as a child but now, instead of being critiqued about your grades you are being critiqued over your credit score! Which is more frightening?!
With your credit score being evaluated you are having a lender or creditor examines all of your financial happening in the past. Whether you have excellent credit, fair credit or bad credit you will be examined when you go to take out a loan or get insurance.
Why is credit evenr important? You cannot even begin to improve your credit score without realizing why it is so important. You should understand how credit influences the majority of your lifestyle choices and your financial position. Whether you want to buy a car, a house or get an insurance plan, people are going to dig into your credit history to see if they can trust you to pay.
If you have bad credit, they will probably refuse to service you because they will not be able to trust you with monthly payments. If you have good credit a lender will know that you have made consistent payments in the past and will most likely help you out.
Credit worthiness is determined through your credit score and your credit history. Even how you use your credit cards will have a big say in your credit score. After you have gone through all of the best credit card offers you must make sure you will get accepted for them.
The better your credit score, the better credit card you will most likely be able to receive. In contrast, the worse condition your credit is in, the worse card you can expect to get. The entire credit process is not complicated, nor is it tough to understand. Low credit tends to scare off lenders while good credit is rewarded.
Staying on the right track. What can you do to make sure your credit is taken care of and you are not abusing one of your best resources? If you want to keep your credit on track or get it on track then you should follow the steps below in order develop a credit report that many will envy:
• Get a copy of your credit report from all three reporting bureaus in the US. The three bureaus are Equifax, Trans-Union and Experian. Your credit score will most likely vary between the three bureaus and by checking all three you can look for inaccuracies. Credit reports are not always accurate and are sometimes riddled with mistakes. Each mistake will bring your credit score down so make sure there are none. If there are mistakes make sure you report them as quickly as possible.
• Open both a bank account and a checking account. If you can prove that you can handle both accounts responsibly then you will have a better chance of getting financial help in the future. Even if you need a co-signer in order to open an account, having a bank and checking account will help your credit.
• Have utilities in your name. If you are renting a place make sure the water, electricity and phone bills are all in your name. If they are in your name and you make all the payments on time than you will show your responsibility.
• If you are attending college, take out a school loan. If you can get a school loan then you are making college easier to attend and it will show up better in your records. There are plenty of state and federal loans that can be taken. Talk to your advisor to find the most appropriate loan for you.
• Apply for a credit card. There are all kinds of credit cards out there. You can get secured credit cards, unsecured credit cards, pre-paid, rewards, gas cards, etc. Even if you end up with a student card it is better than nothing. Any credit card will help you build a strong credit history, which will come in handy down the road when you are looking to take out a loan or buy a car.
• Act responsibly! If you act responsibly and take your credit history seriously then there is no reason you shouldn't bring your credit score above normal. A good credit score can open up many doors to financial freedom and the sooner you start the sooner you can enjoy the benefits.
