Can you tell that at least one of your credit cards matches all your needs, meets all your requirements, and you are 100% satisfied with it? I bet you cannot. According to the results of the survey that has recently been carried out, about 70% of credit card holders cannot say that they are entirely satisfied with their credit card terms and service.
But for some reason very few of them dare to ask their credit card company for a better deal. Remember that asking for better term and conditions is not a crime. Your request is not guaranteed to be complied. But no one will punish you for an attempt.
You just need to choose the right moment to do it and find the right words and arguments. If you are a reasonable and responsible card owner with a god credit score and stainless reputation in the eyes of credit card issuers, you have pretty good chances to negotiate a better deal.
Say, are applying for a good credit card deal, the terms are pretty favorable, but it comes with no intro APR for purchases. You can just contact the issuer and tell him or her that you would really like to have this option. That it is nearly vitally important to you. Be confident but extremely polite and delicate. By no means sink to begging. Just negotiate.
If you are a business person, the art of negotiating is what you are very good familiar with. Business credit cards are very helpful to business owners. But such offers also bring good profit to credit card companies. So, you will, probably, succeed in wangling a couple of extra beneficial features to your business credit card offer.
You should not take your request as a request. Think that it is you who do a favor by asking for a better deal. And, actually, it is true. In the context of keen competition for every customer on the credit card market even major credit card companies, such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and AmEx fight for every their client. Remember that you are the source of their revenues. That is why you can count on some additional bonuses.
Say, you have one of the no annual fee cards, but your interest rate is over 13%, and your credit rating is far above average. Then it is right about the time to make a call and ask for a lower APR. Even if your credit card issuer would not agree to lower your rate, other companies will surely think that you deserve better terms and conditions.
Well, of course, you should not go beyond reason and ask for 7% APR, no annual fee, and 10% cash back. Even if you are a regular and valuable customer you will be rejected.
If you think that excellent credit and spotless credit history owners are the only ones to ask for better terms, you are mistaken. Actually, even if you qualify for only bad credit card deals, you have a chance to negotiate better deals. If you make your payments on time, keep your balance low, and do not break any rules, in about a year or so you can get better terms.
So, if you are not quite satisfied with your credit card terms, it does not mean you need to apply for a new credit card. You can just fix your current plastic. And maybe this is the key to finding your best credit card; maybe it is high time to stop searching for a perfect offer? Just change yours.
