Present-Day Situation with Credit Card OffersThe previous year has brought credit card industry a few quite unpleasant surprises. The sub-prime mortgage crisis has deeply undermined the US economy. And today's situation on the credit card market leaves much to be desired. Mortgage problems caused outstanding credit card debts. According to the statistics, the number of 90 days delinquent credit card accounts rose to 50% last year. In 2006 this rate was about 35%. So, what are we to be ready for in 2008? Credit experts assume that debt might spread onto other spheres of financial life. Both, lenders and borrowers will suffer from mortgage crisis' consequences. Credit issuers have already lost a great deal of money they lent. And the economic forecasts promise that they will suffer even greater revenue losses this year. Credit consumers, caught off base by a dramatic upturn of mortgage interest rates, found themselves deeply indebted and unable to pay off their credit card balances on time. The situation with those, who have mortgage loans, is not likely to change in the near future, as getting rid of a 6 or 7-figure debt with a 30% interest rate takes much time. This will, probably, take years. Credit card business is considered to be very profitable. However, last year's experience demonstrates just the opposite. Now, to make up for the losses credit card companies incurred last year, or at least not to face a financial collapse, they issue credits only to reliable card holders. So, bad and fair credit owners now stand little chance to get approved for a credit card deal they want. Financial illiteracy is another issue of creditors' concern. In order to protect their funds and guarantee a compensation for their losses credit card companies introduce new educational programs and services for credit card users. Well, actually, the devil is not so black as he is painted. The US economic infrastructure is well-organized and financial experts develop new strategies and are always ready to react to a financial crisis right away. Some changes for the better in credit card industry occurred though. Over the past few years credit consumers have been facing some abusive practices. Credit card issuers often imposed such penalties as universal default or sudden hike in interest rate. Last year such practices were waived by most creditors. And this year will, reportedly, bring mitigation for credit card owners and new favorable credit card offers. Especially for responsible and regular customers. However, people with a stained credit history should not wait for pennies from heaven. Bad, no, or fair credit rating owners are to work hard on improving their credit score. Otherwise, they risk being turned down by a number of credit card issuers. But prosperous card owners are out of danger. Lenders will keep indulging such customers with new, more beneficial terms, bonuses, and offers. Excellent and good credit card deals will pleasantly surprise well-to-do clients with new alluring rewards program and favorable terms. No matter what financial crises our economy will hit upon, people will not stop applying for credit cards. And though today's financial forecasts are not too optimistic, be sure things will straighten out. You never know, maybe this year you will find your best credit card.
